JUNE 15-26, 2020
We are so excited that you are considering registering for Disney’s “The Jungle Book
Kids!” Miss Mattie Earls (Little MA and Elementary Fine Arts) and Mrs. Terrena Mann (Middle
and High School Theatre) will be directing rising 1st to rising 8th grade students in this fun,
memorable musical. Camp starts June 15, 2020, and ends June 26, 2020. Each day, students
will meet the directors on the porch of the Elementary School at 9:00 a.m. Students need to be
dressed in clothes they can move around in (it doesn’t have to be Spiritwear) and tennis shoes.
They need to have a refillable water bottle, a snack, and a lunch packed every day. We will
have a refrigerator and microwave students can use. The only day things will be a little different is on Friday, June 26, 2020, students will need to stay with us from 9:00am-6:00pm. On this day, they will need to pack 2 snacks and a lunch. We will provide a pizza dinner for the students before the show starts.
Auditions will be on the very first day of the camp. Every student registered will be given
a role in the show. Auditions will be cold, meaning your students do not have to prepare
anything! We will do some script-readings and learn a song together. After auditions, we will
have a lunch break, while the directors cast roles. After lunch we will dive right into rehearsals!
We will rehearse the first week, learning songs, lines, and blocking. Over the weekend of
June 20 and 21, students must memorize their lines completely and be off-book Monday, June
22. We will rehearse off-book the second week, and have our performance Friday, June 26,
2020, at 5:00 pm.
At the end of every rehearsal, students can be picked up from the Elementary front
porch at 3:00 pm. If your student is participating in “Summer Champs” during this time, please
let us know, so we can have scheduling and payments perfectly in place! If you have questions,
send an email to mearls@macademy.org.
We are looking forward to this opportunity to help your students grow in their talents and
their confidence! It’s going to be a great time!
Thank you,
Mattie Earls and Terrena Mann
